Sony ICF-C263 AM/FM Clock Radio with Digital Tuner (Black) Customer Reviews

The quest for the exact (even adequate) bedside alarm clark is harder than you might reflect. It seems that the manufacturers' emphasis on features has displaced any concern for valuable functionality. But we like cool material too! Even with the diverse reviews on this manufactured goods, we purchased it since it looks good, has many nice features, and appeared to be easy to set. We hoped that the halfhearted observations a propos viewing angle were hypercritical, while acknowledging that they were very funny.Unfotunately (to be sure, very nearly alas, given the amount of time we have now washed-out on this quest), the man from Eugene is aptly on. You cannot read the time while laying down in bed. I don't take a nap permanent up and I don't want to put the clock on the baffle, so back it goes. My wife has threatened to go to her parents' attic to find one with the modest pieces of plactic that fall over. I am compelling into account this selection.

Since I didn't quite reconcile additional reviews in this area the incapability to see the timer face at certain angles (I have a cupboard next to my bed, as a replacement for of a traditional night table), I figured I'd try this timer-touchtone phone logic that seemed to have all the facial appearance I sought after. I have returned it, since it was impracticable to see the time from my bed. Next time I'll know best.

All on the timer facility exceptionaly, and the addict boundary is intuitive, making it trying to misset the timer telephone system and oversleep. However, the viewing angle on the LCD ends at about 20 degrees higher than horizontal making it completly worthless except you put it on the floor or sleep permanent up. It order to caution what calculate it is and not only see a complete tint of green I have to near get completly out of bed. Makes you lingering for the days as little pieces of plastic fell ended revealing the next numeral, and I wasn't even alive then! :D
- Phil Kulak

You have to stare at the spectacle from a certain angle to read it; for develop, you can't read the calculate as you're lying not effective in bed. The backlight is irritating too, why not elucidate the facts as a replacement for of the blank space behind them? I only bought a new timer in check over of the fact with the intention of I was sick of having to sit up in bed and let my eyes focus for 30 seconds only to read the calculate. This timer sucks.

I think other listeners are exaggerating the viewing angle issue of this apparatus. The LCD was calculated to face up a few degrees. So, it's easier to view the digits from above the horizontal level. So make sure your night stand is not privileged than your bed previous to you buy this alarm clock.I like the design, sound feature and build feature of this apparatus. After all it's a SONY.

A timer radio in my attitude must in this diplomacy 1) be inflicted with an easy to use reliable timer radio, 2) spectacle the time visibly, and 3) be inflicted with an easy to use radio gathering. This timer radio fulfilled only item 3. The digital tuner was neat and true, building it easy to tune in my favorite rank in my rural house.Though, the timer was virtually impracticable to view at night then to my feature of the bed -- my partner had no desire of considering the time (conspire 2). The timer HAS NO BATTERY BACK-UP. Wait, isn't this a basic conspire in most timer radios? Is it not the fundamental gathering of a timer radio to to awaken the user by before a live audience an timer radio (or the radio) at a pre-fit time? With no array in trade up (a touch my $8 Wal-Broadcast deal timer radio has) it fails to come across its fundamental gathering (conspire 1). And did I mention I can easily read the time on my low-cost-o Wal-Broadcast deal timer radio?I unseen the reviews since I REALLY wanted a timer radio with a digital tuner, keep pro this contrivance (I hesitate to invite it a timer-radio) is so non-functional I returned it at approximately time ago. My in rank is to skip it and dredge up that basic top imperative -- form follows gathering. And if you admit any designers at Sony, delight hark back them of that imperative.

This is the best alarm timer I have seen on the promote. The second that I blemished it, I was sold. Crappy alarm clocks are a pet peave of mine, and this one is splendid. Setting the time takes seconds. Setting the digital presets takes seconds. It looks amazing and I can rest my beer or a cup of coffee on it (I don't urge it) if I wanted to. No batteries? Not a problem because it takes only seconds to set- no land down a button for two minutes even as it cycles owing to. I am buying one for by brother right now. Oh- the brightness control (3 settings) is wonderful if you like your bedroom very dark (or very sharp!)
